Toulouse fans avoid scrum for scheduled flights

5th June 2008

Rugby-loving Toulouse fans and sponsors successfully avoided the scrum for scheduled flights by chartering private aircraft to see their team take on Munster in the 2008 Heineken Cup Final.

Chapman Freeborn France, a market leader for private air charters, arranged aircraft for hundreds of the French supporters who descended on Cardiff to roar their team on.

With Cardiff and Bristol airports experiencing extremely high-volumes of traffic for the final, Chapman Freeborn’s Paris office was called in to use its expertise in coordinating flights to sporting events.

Two 186-seat Boeing 737 and two 220-seat Boeing 757 charters were arranged, with additional insurance guarantees offered in the unlikely event the flights were not possible due to traffic.

Chapman Freeborn also provided representatives to manage the smooth running of the flights on the day, which ran to schedule, with coach transfers arranged to transport the groups to the Millennium Stadium.

The hard-fought final went to the wire, with Toulouse eventually losing out to the Munstermen in an exciting climax to the season.
